Romantic getaways in the Berkshires provide the opportunity to get “lost” in rolling hills and forests by day, and enjoy an intimate dinner by night in one of the picturesque villages and historical inns in the area.

Located in the extreme western end of Massachusetts, the Berkshires once posed an impenetrable barrier of high terrain and thick forests to the early pioneers – the primary reason the region was one of the last to be settled in Massachusetts.

In the Berkshires music, dance and live theater is as close as a few miles to the nearest large town, and it’s not uncommon to see award-winning actors and actresses performing on stage in Williamstown, Stockbridge or Lenox, at a festival or an off-season run.

The Berkshires is also a short hop to southern Vermont and the majestic Green Mountains and historical towns such as Bennington and Manchester.

Summer can be crowded but fall and spring is the sweet spot for romantic getaways and honeymooners,. Winter can be harsh and snowy because of its elevation, but whatever the weather outside there’s always a snug country inn with a log on the fire ready to keep you warm inside.
